Info
When it comes to roofing, there are many different types that the modern market has to offer. One of these types is to choose metal roofing. In San Antonio, we have seen many clients opt for this type of roofing. It’s practical and also gives the house a certain look. The look is one that we want to give you as an option for your home as well. With all that is out on the market, you can get a metal roof that suits your needs and lifestyle. You should make a choice that you will be comfortable looking at for years to come, not just this year. That is, of course, unless you plan on redoing your roof each year.
Metal roofing has many advantages. One of the main ones is that it is a sturdy material. In an age where everything seems made to fall apart, metal roofing will stand the test of time. People who choose metal roofing are often those who are tired of worrying that every little storm will damage their roof. They want the assurance to know that their home is well protected. This makes sense because once the roof caves in, you have a bigger problem. All the elements can wreak havoc on the interior of the home. The drywall and even electrical wiring might need to be replaced. This is not even mentioning all your precious belongings. And if you don’t have insurance, then this money is just out the window. You can say goodbye to old heirlooms and collectors’ items. Imagine what all that debris, water, and pressure will do to your home’s insides.
Another reason that people choose metal roofs is that they are energy efficient. This is good news to many that live in areas where any heating and cooling is expensive. Your bills will be lower after you install a metal roof. This is a comfort to those out there that want to save the environment while cutting down on your expenses. This is a viable alternative to solar panels on roofs. These have been set on fire lately, proving that the technology is not quite there yet. Instead, you can have a metal roof that has already been tested on the market. In San Antonio, metal roofing has proved a solid way to go.
There are also many varied types of metals that roofs are typically constructed from. Galvanized steel is essentially zinc that has been dipped in a G-90 steel coating. This helps to cut down on expenses as the coating is more expensive than the raw materials that the shingle is made from. Galvalume steel is a little bit more of a costly option than galvanized steel. It uses a zinc and aluminum coat. You might choose this option if you are going for longevity. The galvalume steel is made from materials that last longer than the steel coating. There is also the option of using stone as a base. The stone is coated with G-90 steel, so it still has a metal finish. Other options are aluminum, copper, zinc, terne (a zinc/tin mix), and stainless steel. All of these options will give you certain advantages. Call our professional team to discuss the various outcomes of each metal as roofing in more detail.
Choosing to have metal roofing in San Antonio is great for a hot climate. The weather here is sunny a lot of the time. This means that you want to make sure that you can shield your home and keep it the temperature that you want. San Antonio has a lot of sun, and the metal tends to reflect it well. That means that your home will stay cool. It will help your air conditioner to do its job if you choose to have one. And there may be more periods where you can turn your air conditioner off, saving you a lot.
We are happy to discuss metal roofing with you and give you a quote. Alternatively, if you stop in our office, you can see the samples of what we have to offer. All in all, we want you to be happy with your choice. That’s why we give you the best assistance possible.

Clyde Bryan here, CEO and owner of LOA Roofing and Construction. LOA is based on the principle of abundance- we live abundantly, give abundantly, and serve abundantly. This principle is attractive because fear, anxiety, and worry all fall by the wayside and trust, integrity, and honesty are birthed. This philosophy ties into all areas of our work; from the installation of our roofs, the products we use, the warranties we offer, and the way we treat our clients. We do things the right way with the absence of the thought of time and inconvenience. You, your home and your family are our priority.
I want to personally welcome you to give us a call, stop us in your neighborhood, and just start a conversation with us- I promise you that you will always walk away feeling better than the way you showed up. Looking forward to working you and hope you receive all the abundance this world has to offer.
~Clyde Bryan, Owner
How long will it take to replace my roof?
There are several variables: such as the size of your roof, what material is being installed, and whether it has multiple layers. In many cases, it can take as little as one day! Mother Nature will also play a role. If the weather does not cooperate, we may need to postpone your roof install.
I think my roof was damaged by hail or wind, what should I do?
Can you see hail indents on your gutters, siding, or shingles? Do you see your neighbors getting their roofs replaced? Did you find a blown off shingle in your yard, or see missing shingles on your roof? If so, you could potentially have storm damage. Not all storm damage is visible from the ground. Allow a storm damage specialist, such as ourselves, to take a thorough examination of your roof and exterior. If you have damage, we can work with you to help get your roof repaired or even replaced, as storm damage is considered an Act of God by insurance carriers.
When is it time to replace my roof?
Unfortunately, most roofs are not made to last forever. Different roofing materials offer varying lifecycles. An asphalt shingle roof will generally last 15-25 years. A metal roof can last up to 50 years! A slate or tile roof can last 100 years! However, living in Texas, your roof is prone to many violent storms. This can significantly shorten the functioning life of your roof. An aging or storm damaged roof may not be a candidate for roof repairs, and may require full roof replacement.
Do you recommend a metal or shingle roof?
Both of these roofing materials are very good in their own respects, and each have their own pros and cons. If you are on a limited budget, an asphalt shingle roof is the best option. Shingles are the most popular roofing choice across the United States because of its durability and cost effective price point. Additionally, not every HOA allows a metal roof to be installed. Metal roofs tend to be more expensive than shingle roofs, but they provide for better longevity. A metal roof can last 50 years, while a shingle roof may last 20 years. Metal roofs tend to be hold up better than shingles during stormy conditions as well. We can discuss with you which may be better based on your personal home's needs.
What should I look for in a good roofing contractor?
Living in San Antonio, your roof is exposed to many storms every year. Likely, you have experienced your fair share of door knockers. One of the best things to consider before hiring any roofer is whether or not they are local. If they are in another city in two months after a storm, who will be there to honor your warranty? You should look into their online reputation and reviews. You should review photos of their previous work. You should ask for accolades and any certifications they have. You should make sure they have insurance for YOUR protection. Price is of course a major consideration. However, you should not necessarily go with the cheapest price, as this can be an indicator of a company that is cutting corners and may not be in business for long. You should look for a quote that is in the medium range (not the lowest or highest).
What do you look for in a roofing inspection?
We receive many referrals from happy customers, not only because of the quality of our work, but because of the thoroughness of our initial roof inspection as well. At no cost, we will conduct a free thorough examination of your roof, looking for any signs of storm, wind and hail damage. We will carefully look for leak spots, moisture issues, roof seals, any plant growth, missing or broken or curling shingles, and your chimney flashing (a major leak spot). At the end of our inspection, you'll have a very detailed picture of the condition of your roof, whether you have any storm damage, and whether your roof is a candidate for roofing repairs, or a full replacement. We take pride in offering one of the most thorough roofing inspections in the area!
